Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data is processed when you use French Citizenship Guide, why, and what your rights are. We collect as little data as possible.

Data you send us

Contact form

When you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the subject and content of your message, and your consent to their use. This information is sent by email to the site manager and is used only to reply to you. It is never sold, rented or used for advertising.

Legal basis: your consent, given by checking the box provided. Retention period: as long as needed to handle your request and follow up on the conversation, after which messages are deleted.

We recommend that you never send documents from your citizenship application or identity document numbers through this form: we do not need them.

Comments

If comments are open on an article and you post one, the data you enter (name, email address and, optionally, website), your IP address and your browser’s user agent are stored in order to moderate content and prevent spam. Your email address is never displayed publicly.

Free PDF and email updates

The free French Citizenship Starter Kit is requested on a separate page, go.frenchcitizenshipguide.com, which runs on the email marketing service systeme.io. If you request it, the information you enter on that page is used to send you the PDF and, only if you choose to receive them, occasional emails about rule changes and new guides. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and your address is never sold.

Technical data

Like any website, the server that hosts French Citizenship Guide keeps technical logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) that are needed for the security and proper functioning of the site. The site also uses Cloudflare, a content delivery and attack protection network, which processes this technical data to route and secure connections.

The site’s fonts are hosted on our own server: no request is sent to an external font service when you visit.

Cookies and traffic measurement

The site does not set advertising cookies. Technical cookies may be set for the site to work, for example to remember your details if you post a comment. If a traffic measurement tool is introduced, this page will be updated to explain how it works and, where required, your consent will be requested first.

Content embedded from other sites

Some content may include elements from other sites (videos, images, etc.). This content behaves as if you were visiting the original site directly, and that site may collect data about you under its own rules.

Who receives the data

The data is accessible only to the site manager and to the technical providers that are strictly necessary (hosting, email, security), within the limits of their role. No data is transferred to third parties for commercial purposes.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to and port your data, and the right to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, write to us through the Contact page.

If, after contacting us, you believe your rights have not been respected, you can file a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated to reflect changes to the site or to the regulations. The version in force is the one published on this page.
